Mara Quint, editor

Mara spent eight years as a local news reporter covering planning meetings, library budgets, and bus timetables, the stories that decide how a town feels to live in. Open Tabs started as a notebook of the ones that never fit a news page.

She writes most stories herself, commissions a few each season, and still reads every reply.

What we publish

Places: libraries, cafés, parks, and streets, reported in person
Tools: the objects and routines people actually rely on
Essays: longer pieces on attention, time, and neighbourhoods

Corrections

If something here is wrong, write to the address on the contact page. Corrections are added to the end of the story with the date they were made.
